Cottage Lupine is the most striking wildflower that grows along Minnesota’s North Shore and in some sections of the Gunflint Trail.
Actually, though, this variety of lupine isn’t native to our state. Rather, it’s cottage lupine brought by white settlers decades ago that naturalized and spread.
No matter its history, it’s gorgeous when in bloom—late spring and early summer. Its blossoms are most commonly purple, but we also see them in white and pink.
